We recommend that new users use CLEANUX twice a day for the first couple of weeks-once in the morning and again before bed. CLEANUX irrigation cycle can last from about 10 seconds to a minute, depending on personal anatomy and congestion.

Most cycles last from 20 to 30 seconds. The cycle is complete when the water tank is empty.

Please use ONLY filtered, distilled, or previously boiled water for nasal irrigation using CLEANUX.

Most users prefer to warm their water prior to use. If you do this, do not overheat the water. It should be lukewarm to the touch and not hotter than about 85°– 90°F (29°– 32°C).

To avoid the risk of spreading germs from one user to another, the best practice hygienically is for each user to have his or her own device.

Properly clean the device after use so that viruses and bacteria from your nose are not transferred to the device and the germs are not given the opportunity to colonize and be reintroduced into the nose upon subsequent use.

If you use the device daily and rinse it thoroughly before and after use, the risk is quite small. If the device is properly cleaned after use, the risk can be eliminated completely.

After each use, rinse the water tank thoroughly with warm water to remove any residual saline and allow to air dry. (Soap and water may also be used periodically for cleaning.) It is beneficial to frequently rinse the unit after use by running through a full reservoir of pure warm water until there is no more water in the reservoir and none is being ejected from the tip.

Once the water has all gone, continue to allow the unit to run for about 5 seconds to push out any residual moisture. Be sure to wipe down the unit regularly to remove any saline solution that may have spilled on the exterior to minimize accumulation of salt deposits.

CLEANUX can be used with a saline solution, but ONLY filtered, distilled, or previously boiled water should be used with or without packets. Please follow all usage directions mentioned in our user manual, any water other than mentioned above is not considered to be properly filtered and can cause infections.

Neither the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) nor the airlines impose limitations on traveling with CLEANUX. It can be packed in your carry-on or checked baggage.

The situation with Salt Packages is a little different. According to the TSA website, passengers may bring up to a quart-sized bag of liquids in a carry-on. The individual items must be in small containers that are each 3.4 ounces or less. According to TSA, "Placing these items in a small bag and separating them from your carry-on baggage facilitates the screening process. Pack items that are in containers larger than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters in checked baggage."

The good news is that each CLEANUX Salt Package contains 0.13 oz of saline concentrate, so you can carry on as many Packages as can be placed in a quart-sized Ziploc bag (it's a lot!).
